Coverage, Liability & Policy Interpretation
We advise on a broad range of insurance and reinsurance matters, including property and casualty, financial lines (D&O, PI, FI, BBB) , marine, aviation and transport, energy and construction, cyber and technology risks, catastrophe and special risks, and political risk, trade credit and surety.
We regularly advise on policy drafting and interpretation, compliance with Turkish law, and coverage disputes involving exclusions, aggregation, misrepresentation, non-disclosure, breach of warranty, late notification and allocation between primary and excess layers.
Claims Handling & Dispute Resolution
We represent insurers and reinsurers in contentious and non-contentious matters arising from major losses and liability exposures. Our experience includes large property and business interruption claims, major liability and subrogated recovery actions, professional negligence claims involving brokers, surveyors, engineers, auditors and other professionals, financial lines claims, marine, transport and aviation casualties, product liability and recall matters, and construction and engineering disputes.
We represent clients before the Turkish courts, arbitral tribunals and mediation proceedings. Our approach combines early risk assessment, strategic case management and practical dispute resolution.
Reinsurance
We advise facultative and treaty reinsurers on a broad range of reinsurance issues, including coverage and policy wording, follow the fortunes and follow the settlements provisions, claims co-operation and claims control clauses, late notification, allocation and commutation, as well as retrocession and recovery issues.
We regularly work with London Market legal and claims teams and are familiar with market wordings, underwriting practices and Lloyd's claims environment.
Regulatory
We advise insurers, reinsurers and intermediaries on the Turkish regulatory framework applicable to insurance activities. Our work covers licensing and establishment, regulatory notifications, product approval and policy wording, compliance with SEDDK requirements, as well as distribution structures, outsourcing arrangements, MGAs and TPAs.
Subrogation & Recovery
Recovery forms a significant part of our practice. We pursue recovery actions across a wide range of sectors, including transport, marine, energy, construction, industrial and banking risks. Our experience allows us to identify recovery opportunities early and develop strategies aligned with our clients' commercial objectives.
