Wet Shipping & Casualties
We have extensive experience in major marine casualties, including collisions, groundings, fires, total losses, salvage, general average, pollution, wreck removal and damage to ports, terminals and underwater structures.
We regularly act for shipowners, P&I Clubs and insurers from the earliest stages of an incident, coordinating investigations, evidence preservation, surveys and expert involvement. We also advise on regulatory and administrative issues and on third-party claims arising from casualties, including cargo loss and damage, pollution, personal injury and property damage.
Where immediate action is required, we assist with urgent court applications and precautionary measures and are able to attend vessels, ports and casualty sites throughout Türkiye.
Dry Shipping
We advise on disputes arising from charterparties, bills of lading and other contracts concerning the carriage of goods by sea and the employment of vessels. Our experience includes cargo loss, damage, contamination and shortage claims, freight disputes, demurrage and detention, liens, general average and debt recovery.
We represent clients before the Turkish courts and arbitral tribunals. We also regularly act as Turkish counsel in international disputes and arbitrations involving Turkish law and Turkish parties.
We have significant experience in ship arrest and maritime security matters, including urgent applications for the arrest of vessels in Turkish ports, the release of arrested vessels and related precautionary proceedings. We are also experienced in coordinating multi-jurisdictional proceedings and parallel enforcement actions, particularly where disputes involve cross-border asset recovery, arrest strategies and enforcement of arbitral awards.
Shipbuilding, Repair & Yacht Projects
We advise ship and yacht owners, shipyards and marine equipment manufacturers on shipbuilding, repair, refit and conversion projects, from contract negotiation and project documentation through to delivery and post-delivery disputes.
Our work covers shipbuilding and repair contracts, technical specifications and variations, delay and liquidated damages, payment disputes, defects and warranty claims, performance issues, delivery and acceptance, and termination.
Sale & Purchase
We advise buyers and sellers on the sale and purchase of vessels and yachts, from the negotiation of memoranda of agreement and transaction documents through to closing and delivery.
Our work includes due diligence, title and registration matters, flag and registry documentation, payment and escrow arrangements, delivery documentation, releases of mortgages and other encumbrances, and coordination of closing requirements with registries, banks, brokers and foreign counsel.
Ship Finance
We advise shipowners, lenders and other industry participants on ship finance transactions involving commercial vessels and yachts. Our work includes the preparation and review of loan and security documentation, ship mortgages, guarantees and other security arrangements, as well as registration, release and enforcement of mortgages and coordination with Turkish and foreign registries, banks and foreign counsel.
